Saskatoon loves music. We’re a city that’s full of musicians – because what makes more sense during a long winter than picking up a guitar or a fiddle and learning to play so that when everyone gets together on the weekend you can make it a party
That love for music is reflected in the great concerts that come to Saskatoon, and especially in the…
SASKATOON BLUES FESTIVAL
This yearly event is sponsored by the Saskatoon Blues Society, a non-profit dedicated to bringing this incredible musical tradition to the prairies.
Taking place from February 19 to March 2, the main event takes place over the first weekend of March with events like workshops and seminars leading up to it. If you happen to be around in late February then definitely check out the free downtown concert series, but if you’re planning a trip aim for March! That’s because you can check out these incredible performers.
Morgan Davis: A Canadian classic! Morgan Davis has been playing the blues professionally for 45 years now, and every minute of that experience shows whenever he takes to the stage. Conjuring the best of the Delta blues, Morgan Davis is a must-see.
Crystal Shawanda: An Ontarian who was on her way to being a star in Nashville, Crystal Shawenda’s life changed when she realized that country wasn’t cutting it for her and that only the blues would do. Since then, she has discovered her true purpose – bringing the blues to as many people as possible!
Harpdog Brown: Harpdog Brown plays Chicago electric blues with a shot of New Orleans jazz. A powerful performer who is able to transform a concert into something like a sermon, Harpdog will make a blues convert out of you!
And that’s really just the tip of the iceberg. It’s going to be an incredible weekend, and we hope you’ll show for it!
And if you do, we also hope that you’ll book a room at the Home Inn & Suites Saskatoon South. We aim to provide the kind of outstanding comfort and service that will help make your trip to Saskatoon the best it could possibly be! Reserve your room today!
