EMPIRE OF THE SON
Tetsuro Shigematsu is a Canadian icon, having hosted CBC Radio’s The Roundup and written for This Hour Has 22 Minutes. He is an acclaimed writer and storyteller who is able to breathe life into portrayals of the Asian Canadian experience.
In his one-man show, Empire of the Son, he tells the story of his relationship to his father, delving deep into the past to the ruins of Hiroshima after the war to the swinging streets of London in the 1960s to create a sympathetic portrayal of the man he shares a complicated relationship with. It’s a powerhouse piece of theatre, and you should definitely check it out March 29 to April 10 at the Remai Arts Centre!
SASKATCHEWAN COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS
Saskatchewan has some of the best musicians in the country. After all, what is there to do with a prairie winter but sit inside and practice playing your instrument so that when you do get together with all your friends you can have a great time?
That’s why the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards exists. Celebrating 30 years of the Saskatchewan Country Music Association, this award show draws attention to the incredible artists that have been touring under this enormous sky for so long.
See Tennile Arts, Lisa Moen, The Hunter Brothers and many more as they accept awards, play great music and show why country music is still one of the most important genres going right now. It’s going to be a great time, and absolutely something to celebrate.
Want to take part in the excitement? Book a room at the Home Inn & Suites Saskatoon South for the ultimate in comfort and prairie hospitality.
