Summer is festival season! Whether you’re checking out live music, celebrating a cause, or just finding an excuse to spend a great weekend with family and friends, we’ve got suggestions for festivals to check out in Saskatoon this summer:
Nutrien Children's Festival Of Saskatchewan | June 2-5
If you’re looking for the perfect family-friendly activity, check out the Nutrien Children’s Festival at Kinsmen Park, Saskatoon June 2-5! This festival aims to create a “passion for curiosity and exploration through diversified and multi-cultural programming”. There are tons of performers, with shows intentionally featuring a wide range of cultural backgrounds, languages, and forms of expression, including music, dance, and theatre. Other activities at the festival include a storytime tent, face painting, LEGO building, a safari hedge maze, arts and crafts, and much more. Single day passes are just $10 each and include all shows and activities on that day, or buy a family day-pass for 4 for $30.
Saskatoon Pride Festival | June 10-24
The Saskatoon Pride Festival is our city’s annual celebration of our LGBTQ+ community, where people of all orientations and backgrounds come together to foster community pride and show their love and support for one another. Each year, the festival includes a Pride Parade, which has become the largest parade in Saskatchewan over the years! This summer’s parade takes place on Saturday, June 23rd. There is also a Pride Market on June 22nd and 23rd, with artisans, vendors, and businesses who are run by LGBTQ+ community members and support the queer community. There are also lots of other events and activities throughout this 2 week festival, so stay tuned for more event announcements as the celebration nears!
SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival | June 22-July 1
10 days of world class musicians and artists in Saskatoon! Contrary to the name of the festival, the event features performances by artists from all over the world in a variety of genres, including jazz, blues, funk, pop, world music, and much more. Over 80,000 people attend each year since the festival’s start in 1987. Some of this year’s headliners include City and Colour, Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite, the Flaming Lips, John Butler Trio, Tom Cochrane with Red Rider, and more.
There are so many fun events to check out this summer, no matter what you are looking to do! Home Inn and Suites Saskatoon South is conveniently located just a 10 minute drive away from downtown Saskatoon, and with our free parking it’s easy to check out events no matter where they are! We’re so excited to make the most of this summer and attend as many festivals and events as possible.
